A Special Pink Heart for Childhood Cancer

Kourage has a special pink heart for helping those with childhood cancer Kourage was activated with a special heart. From the time Dr. Krakowitz introduced her to the Kauzbots Krew she understood that her heart was a little different than the rest. Her heart was pink, while all other Kauzbots have red hearts. She immediately talked to Kalvin, the Kauzbots leader, about her special heart. Through talking to Kalvin she came to realize that her heart was special because of its color and its incredible strength.

As Kourage visited different places with Kalvin, she realized that children sometimes get very sick with diseases that many people think only adults can get. This includes cancer. The thought of a child having to fight childhood cancer made Kourage very sad. However, she quickly understood why she was activated with a special pink heart… her special heart gave her the strength to help others fight childhood cancer.

Once Kourage understood how her pink robot heart was special, she searched for a group of humans focused on childhood cancer who could use help. Kourage knows it is always best to work as a group, whether joining a group or gathering a bunch of friends together. After spending time in Echo Park enjoying a beautiful sunny day, she met Jo Ann and Jennifer as Kourage was walking to a coffee shop. Jo Ann and Jennifer are two people who dedicate their time to helping children living with cancer. They knew a robot with a heart could help, which made Kourage very happy to hear.

Jo Ann shared with Kourage the story of her son Pablo. Pablo was six years old when he lost his valiant yearlong battle with a rare form of childhood cancer. Inspired by Pablo’s spirit and strength, Jo Ann and her husband Jeff started The Pablove Foundation.

The mission of The Pablove Foundation is to fund pediatric cancer research and advances in treatment, educate and empower cancer families, and improve the quality of life for children living with cancer through hospital play, music and arts programs. Pablove is dedicated to the daily, global fight against childhood cancer and the suffering that comes in its wake.

Kourage works hard to support The Pablove Foundation and be involved in making a difference. Kourage and her friends hosts yard sales and bake sales to raise money she then donates. She also works with Kalvin and Dr. Krakowitz to organize community bike rides, plan group dinners and throw celebration parties. Kourage also knows she can make a difference by doing something that doesn’t cost anything… she visits, plays and talks with children who are in the hospital. Showing up to let a child and family know you care, is often one of the best ways you can show the size of your heart.
